ACTE's New Professionals program makes available $200 stipendsto a limited number of ACTE ACTE Association for Career and Technical Education (formerly American Vocational Association)ACTE Association of Corporate Travel ExecutivesACTE Approvals Committee for Terminal EquipmentACTE Anodal Closure Tetanus members who are attending the annualconvention for the first time and who have no more than five years'experience in career and technical education. An attractive new element has been added to this program, but itssuccess rests on participation by some of the more seasonedprofessionals in ACTE's ranks. We would like to match each newprofessional with a mentor Mentor, in Greek mythologyMentor(mĕn`tər, –tôr'), in Greek mythology, friend of Odysseus and tutor of Telemachus. who can help guide the newcomer through thatfirst convention experience. Mentors are asked to attend the NewProfessionals coffee on the first morning, prior to the Opening GeneralSession, then to meet with their new person after the General Session todiscuss program sessions and events the new person should attend.Mentors also are asked to communicate with their New Professional afterthe convention. Having a mentor can make a first-timer's convention experiencemuch more rewarding, so please give some thought to volunteering for afuture convention.
